athematical Structures in Quantum Mechanics 2 conference at the MPI Faculty

Another international initiative of the MPI Faculty! The Gdańsk Workshop on Mathematical Physics: Mathematical Structures in Quantum Mechanics 2 conference took place on March 27-29, 2025. This is the second conference with this title - the previous event took place in June 2023. As a location for this event, the spacious lecture hall 1.14 was chosen.

The conference was dedicated to reviewing the current level of knowledge in selected topics of mathematical physics, taking into account the latest research and open problems. The papers concerned, among others, operator-monotonic functions, the study of quantum systems in the context of nonlocality, the analysis of linear positive mappings and generalizations of Wigner's theorem. The main goal of the event was to establish international partnership among the participating researchers; cooperation regarding research in relation to the discussed topics.

The head of the organizing committee was dr hab. Adam Rutkowski, prof. UG from the Department of Mathematical Methods of Physics (Institute of Theoretical Physics and Astrophysics). The co-organizers were the Faculty of Mathematics, Physics and Informatics of the University of Gdańsk (represented by the Dean of the Faculty, dr hab. Marcin Marciniak, prof. UG) and the Ministry of Science and Higher Education. The conference was attended by over 40 participants from different countries, including 20 speakers who presented the results of their research to the audience.

The GWMP conference was a fantastic opportunity to exchange experiences, observations and brilliant ideas. In addition to the lecture part, participants had the opportunity to present their research on posters that hang along the corridor of the event's area, opening up further opportunities for group discussion. Brainstorming continued even during the integrating dinner on the second day of the conference.

International scientific conferences create an ideal environment for sharing knowledge, for mutual inspiration and integration with the scientific community from all over the world, which the Faculty of Mathematics, Physics and Informatics of the University of Gdańsk effectively uses.
